Why Three Songs In Exists
By: Jodi Rothfeld
I’ve always loved two things: photos and words.
A photo catches the second.
Writing helps me figure out why it mattered.
Live music gives me both.
The lights, the crowd, the weird favorite song, the opener I didn’t expect, the way a band can change the whole energy of a room in one chorus. I love all of it. I love the big moments, but I also love the in-between ones — someone turning to their friend during a song, the crowd taking over a lyric, the smile from stage when everything connects.
Three Songs In started because I want to shoot more concerts, yes. But also because I want a place to write about them in a way that feels real.
Not perfect reviews.
Not fancy music criticism.
Not pretending I know every deep cut from every band.
Just honest coverage from someone who loves the feeling of being there.
Some nights I’ll have a real camera.
Some nights I’ll have a phone from the seats.
Some nights it’ll be a full gallery.
Some nights it’ll be a few clips and a story I needed to tell.
That’s the point.
The pit, the seats, the lights, the sound, the memory.
Three songs in is usually when you know what kind of night it’s going to be.
And I want to remember all of it.
