Hold on Fire Brought the Energy

Hold on Fire at Grammercy Theatre

It had been a minute since I’d gotten out to photograph a concert, so I was already hyped walking into Gramercy. Getting to shoot it was one thing, but catching my homie Jon in action with his new band? That made it hit different.

Now in their third year, Hold on Fire took the stage for their very first CD release party—and they made it count.

This was my first time seeing them live, and they absolutely delivered. The energy was high right out the gate, and they sounded locked in—tight, confident, like a band that’s really found its groove. You could tell they’ve been putting in the work.

They even debuted a new song during the set, and the crowd was all in. There’s something about hearing something brand new in a room full of people who are just as excited as you are—it felt like one of those moments you remember.

Jon summed it up best: “I am just happy to see us go from ‘let’s start a band’ to ‘come to our release show.’ Pretty epic.”

Big milestone for them, great crowd, and honestly just a solid night all around. Definitely a band I’d catch again.

Worth it, even if my bedtime said otherwise.
